We pride ourselves on offering the highest quality coffee possible. All the coffee comes from our 7-acre family farm nestled on the slopes of Volcan Santa Maria, 5,000 ft above sea level. The farm enjoys rich volcanic soils, a humid cloud forest climate and a staff dedicated to ensuring each step in the coffee growing process is done with care. Harvest season lasts three months and our harvesters hand-pick only the ripest berries each week. Cafe La Tranquilidad is grown at high elevation creating the uniquely robust flavor for which strictly hard bean coffee is known.
At Cafe La Tranquilidad we realize our employees are the life of our farm. We have a long standing relationship with each of our employees and strive to provide a living wage to improve the quality of life for them and their families. We are proud of having employed the same families on our farm for over 25 years. Our workers are our legacy and their commitment is part of what makes our coffee unique.
Protecting the environment is one of the pillars on which Cafe La Tranquilidad is founded. All the coffee is shade grown under a canopy of native tropical hardwoods, providing a rich habitat for a wide array of tropical birds. To ensure nesting habitat for birds and cover for small mammals a portion of the farm is a natural reserve creating a sanctuary abundant in local flora and fauna. Finally, our coffee is naturally sun dried on coffee patios reducing our carbon footprint.
